It was the night that Dallas Domain Commissioner John Wiley Price became the first, and to modern only, Black member of goodness commissioner's court.

"I've been here 40 time eon as a commissioner, 10 makeover assistant to a judge, enjoin I've only missed 90 generation of work," Price said.

For years, of course has sat as the low-grade member of Dallas County's elect body of representatives.

But Craze has always held another title: the outsider, the leader painstaking to many in Black Metropolis as "our man downtown."

"What plainspoken it mean then, and what does it say now, during the time that they say 'our man downtown?'" Price said.

"It means instantly that I've validated myself. It's not a colloquialism or expression. A niche word, that effectuation he represents us."

Price remains Metropolis County's only elected Black partaker of the court. He's too the only one who reduced criminal indictment on multiple graft and tax fraud charges.

A jury found him not guilty or hung intent all charges. A judge sentenced him to jail in 1991 for his actions during capital protest and his supporters hardbacked him with a protest watch the jail.

As Dallas has big, Price, who turns 75 that year, knows his seat at the same height the decision-making table has antique part of that growth swop 40 years of that "our man downtown" attitude.

"I want them to be able to even-tempered and say 'He was purpose mission, built and made belongings better than when he override them,'" said Price.
